Allocation

An allocation is the target weight assigned to each holding, strategy or asset class within a portfolio — what the portfolio is supposed to look like, as distinct from what it currently is.

Almost every meaningful portfolio question is the distance between the target and the actual. Drift is that distance. Rebalancing is the act of closing it. Suitability is whether the target was right in the first place.
