Tiered fee

A tiered fee charges each band of assets at its own rate, so a client crossing a breakpoint pays the lower rate only on the assets above it.

The alternative, sometimes called a cliff or flat-rate schedule, charges the entire balance at the rate for the band it falls into. The same headline schedule produces different invoices depending on which convention applies, so the agreement must say which.
