Proprietary product

A proprietary product is one managed or sponsored by the advisor or an affiliate, so that recommending it produces additional revenue for the firm.

Recommending one is permitted and common. The requirement is that the conflict is disclosed alongside the recommendation rather than in a document delivered at onboarding.
