How we compare ยท Addepar
Addepar is built around the report.
THOR ONE is built around the work.
Addepar describes itself as a data and AI platform for investment professionals, built around aggregation and reporting, with particular depth in alternatives and private markets. THOR ONE is built to run an advisory firm’s operating week: the trades, the fees, the reports and the plan, on one set of records.
Seven engines. One set of records. All ours.
THOR ONE is not a suite of products joined by integrations. Every engine below is our own code, running on the same records, so a trade, a fee, a lot and a return each have one owner and one answer.
- Trading. Our own order management and execution engine, with rules-based routing, rebalancing, drift monitoring and daily tax-loss harvesting. Our trading desk places every order.
- Reporting. Performance at the sleeve, the account and the household, under your brand, on the schedule you set.
- Billing. A single fee path, calculated from the same records that traded. One place a fee is calculated, one place the invoice comes from.
- Risk. One risk journey for the whole household, applied to every account, or one per account where that is right.
- CRM. Not a CRM that syncs with your book. A CRM that is your book.
- Planning. Retirement and income plans built against the holdings the client actually owns.
- Research. Institutional managers and your own models ranked on the same measures, blended in minutes, and traded from the screen you researched them on.
An assistant on every page that knows your book
Because every engine shares one set of records, the assistant built into every page of THOR ONE can answer from your actual firm, not from general information. Ask it to pull up a household’s accounts, holdings, risk score, notes and tasks; compare strategies and blends on the marketplace; rank funds and stocks head to head; build and balance a blend; read how a model fits a given client; or show what to act on first across your book.
Sleeves, and the household above them
Every account on THOR ONE is sleeve-based. Managed and unmanaged sleeves sit inside one account, and trading, rebalancing and performance run at the sleeve, not across a flat account. Three managers can run inside one registration with one statement, one cash position and one set of tax lots.
Above the sleeves sits the unified managed household: every account, every lot, the gains already realized this year and what a trade does to the whole, on one screen. A client who needs cash for a roof is one decision across the household, not five logins and a spreadsheet. One account, three managers.
Side by side
| What matters | THOR ONE | The question to ask Addepar |
|---|---|---|
| Who places the trades | Our trading desk, every order, with daily tax-loss harvesting. | After the report is built, who places the trades and handles the exceptions? |
| Billing | Calculated from the same records that traded, one invoice. | Is billing part of your contract, and does it read the same records as reporting? |
| CRM and planning | Both are THOR ONE engines on the same records. | Which CRM and planning tools do firms connect, and who keeps them in step? |
| Accounts | Sleeve-based: several managers in one account, one set of tax lots. | Can trading and performance run at the sleeve inside one account? |
| The household | The unified managed household, and the cash raise runs from it. | Can you act on the household from the same screen you see it on? |
| An assistant that knows your book | On every page, answering from your own households, models and research. | Does the assistant answer from your households, models and trades, or only the data you have loaded? |
| Price | One price on assets. Start with one piece; no module or seat charges. | How is pricing set, and which capabilities are separate? |
| Leaving | Thirty days’ notice. Your full history in CSV and PDF at no charge, in writing. | What leaves with you, in what format, at what cost? |
Running both
Some firms with heavy alternatives keep a specialist view of their private holdings and run their managed accounts on THOR ONE. If that is your book, ask us how the two fit on the first call.
